Migration Information
Center
Since the beginning of 2006, the Migration Information
Centre (MIC) restarted its activities in Azerbaijan within the 2-year project
“An Integrated Approach to Promoting Legal Migration through National Capacity
Building and Inter-Regional Dialogue between South Caucasus and EU” funded by
the European Commission and implemented by the International Organization for
Migration (IOM).
The IOM Baku and Nakhchivan office-based MIC targets the population at large, to
raise awareness and to inform on how to go about regular migration while
avoiding the risks of irregular migration. MIC’s main task is to provide
objective and reliable information to potential and actual migrants as well as
to all interested individuals about migration procedures abroad and
opportunities of regular migration in order to curtail irregular migration and
trafficking in persons.
MIC staff provides potential migrants with information about migration
opportunities, migration legislation in other countries and possible risks of
irregular migration and smuggling.
